About Perth

About Perth – Murdoch Institute of Technology

SONY DSCPerth is a cosmopolitan city of 1.6 million people, located on the banks of the Swan River. It is situated between the Darling Ranges and the Indian Ocean, and along the banks of the Swan River, 12 km from the ocean.

The city is bound by the river to the east and south. To the west of the city is Kings Park, which has over 400 hectares of natural Australian bush overlooking the city center and the Swan River. The view from King’s park is quite unique and is a must for any visitor to Perth.

SONY DSCPerth and Western Australia have a lot to offer with great weather, clear blue skies and a booming economy. There is something here for everyone. The magnificent ocean beaches are within close proximity of most suburbs and the historic port city of Fremantle is a short distance away. Cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs provide a bustling nightlife for those who seek it. Movies and live theatre are always nearby and art galleries, museums and other places of interest are there for everyone. Shopping is good. Supermarkets stock a wide range of food to meet everyone’s requirements.

Perth was ranked by the Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2009 Livability Survey of 2009 as the 5th best city, out of 140 cities around the world, in which to live. Students find the people in this multi-cultural city both friendly and helpful to visitors from other countries.
