Teaching and Learning Methods

Lectures

Provide the core content matter of a unit. Supported by workshops, tutorials and seminars that involve group discussions in which student participation is actively and strongly encouraged.

Laboratory work

Presents opportunities to apply knowledge and develop technical skills in a practical sense.

Personal study

Undertaken individually or in small groups on a regular basis. Develops students’ autonomous learning and teamwork, further enhancing their academic success.

Assessment

Units are assessed through a combination of coursework, written tests and examinations. Coursework may include assignments, presentations, group-based projects, laboratory and practical work.

* Students wishing to take a lighter workload can take 8 units over three trimesters.

  • One hour per week of free additional academic support in all Diploma units
