Transport

Perth has an excellent public transport system. Buses run regularly between the city of Perth and the Murdoch Campus and also between the port of Fremantle and Murdoch Campus.

Any questions about public transport to and from Murdoch Campus can be directed to the Transperth Information Line on 13 62 13 from –
Monday to Friday, 6:30 am to 8:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00am to 5:00 pm.
You can also find information on the Transperth website

Smartrider Cards

SmartRider is Transperth’s electronic ticketing system that uses smartcard technology incorporating an embedded microchip and an aerial to enable the smartcard to communicate with processors located on board Transperth buses and ferries and at train stations. The embedded microchip enables value to be stored on your SmartRider card and also allows your journey details and the value of each journey to be recorded and deducted from the stored value on your card. SmartRider cards can be purchased from the Student Guild Shop on Bush Court or any authorised SmartRider retailer in the city or suburbs of Perth.

Initially Transperth SmartRider cards will be flagged as concession cards, however Transperth will need to receive validation of the student’s concession status within 7 days of the card being issued. If Transperth does not receive validation within 7 days the card will revert to standard fare charges. For further information on SmartRider please visit the Transperth website

Concession Tickets

All full-time students are eligible for concession fares on production of a Student Travel Permit. This forms part of your student ID card.  A concession card enables you to travel on buses, trains and the South Perth Ferry at discounted student rates. The concession card can also be used to buy concession multi rider tickets (either 10 or 40 rides) which offer substantial discounts.  Valid student ID Cards must be carried whenever you use a concession ticket – failure to do so will incur a fine.
