Your Pathway to Murdoch University
Your Pathway to Murdoch University
At MIT, our focus is on getting you into the university course you want. If you don’t meet University entry requirements, don’t worry. Maybe you’re only just finishing year 11, or you’ve graduated year 12 with an ATAR lower than expected. Or, maybe you have a post high school qualification, but you’re still not eligible for direct entry. Whatever your situation, we can help.
Murdoch Institute of Technology bridges the gap from school to university. We’ve got a variety of different courses and programs on offer, so you can tailor your study to your needs. Our complete approach to university preparation is suited to Australian and International students, regardless of your English level. Whatever your career goals, we want to get you there.
Accelerated University Entrance
Get a head start and graduate straight into second year of a Murdoch University bachelor’s degree with an MIT diploma. Or, if you successfully complete our Murdoch University Preparation Course (MUPC) then you gain entry straight into first year of most degrees. You could be studying the degree of your choice in just six months time.
At MIT, you’ve also got the option of combining an MUPC with a Diploma course. By doing so, you’ll be on a rapid-progress route to a degree without the burden of an excessive study load.
By beginning your study with us, you can reduce the overall time it takes to complete your degree. If you completed Year 12 at school, you can potentially complete a Bachelor degree more than six months sooner than regular students. Year 11 students can save themselves up to a year of study time.
Where to Start?
You can apply for an MIT Diploma or MUPC during one of our three intakes per year, in February, June or October. You can apply if you’re leaving year 11 or 12, or if you’ve got a post high school qualification. Figure out what you want to study before you apply so that we can help you create a personal study plan. We’re here to offer advice on unit selection and support you as you begin your journey to university. Talk to one of our staff today to get started.
Murdoch University Preparation Course
The MIT Murdoch University Preparation Course (MUPC) is your pathway into university even if you don’t currently meet entry requirements. There are three different MUPC programs available: MUPC 6 (consists of 6 units), MUPC 4 (consists of 4 units) and MUPC 3 (consists of 3 units).
What program you choose will depend on your qualifications, English proficiency and preferred Bachelor’s degree at Murdoch University. You can expect to complete between three and six units of study, depending on which program you undertake.
Who should study the MUPC?
- Australian students who have completed year 12 with a low ATAR may only need to complete MUPC 3.
- Australian students with no ATAR might be required to complete MUPC 4 or MUPC 6.
- Mature age students who do not meet standard university entry requirements are generally required to take MUPC 3 or MUPC 4, which can be completed over one or two trimesters.
- International students in most cases will need to complete MUPC 6 to ensure that the necessary subjects are covered. This time also allows students to adapt to their new learning environment.
Our Diploma Programs
With an MIT Diploma you can launch straight into the second year of your chosen Murdoch University degree. You’ll graduate with two qualifications instead of just one, giving you the competitive edge you need in a global market.
What you choose as your diploma will depend on what degree you’d like to study. We know it can be hard to decide sometimes, so we offer guidance in choosing a pathway to university that’s right for you. If you need advice on where to start, talk to one of our staff today.
At MIT, we offer a choice of three diplomas:
- Diploma of Business
- Diploma of Communications and Media Studies
- Diploma of Information and Communications Technology
Who should study a Diploma?
- Australian students who have completed year 12 with an ATAR above 50, and are looking to get a qualification
- International students who meet the academic and English entry requirement
- Mature age students with adequate experience
Our diploma programs combine industry experience, individualised attention and university-level theory to give you the best possible head start. The 8-unit course structure is based off the Murdoch University syllabus, so you can get accustomed to an academic learning environment early on. Best of all, you get to study on campus while completing your diploma so you get to be a part of the Murdoch University community from the very beginning.
